What we do with your data.
Short version: the plan builder stores nothing about you. If you join the email list we keep your email address and the answers you gave, so we know what to tell you about. That’s the lot.
The plan builder
Your answers travel in the web address of your plan page and are not written down on our side. The ticks you make on a plan are stored in your own browser (in localStorage) and never reach us. Close the tab and the only trace is the link, in your own history.
The email list
If you submit the form we store: your email address, anything you typed in the optional fields, which page you submitted from, the answers from your plan if you had built one, a one-way hashed version of your IP address, and your browser’s user agent string. The hash and user agent exist only to spot automated abuse of the form — the raw IP address is not kept.
We use it for one thing: emailing you when provider comparisons or renewal reminders go live. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone for their marketing. Our lawful basis is your consent, given by submitting the form, and you can withdraw it any time by emailing hello@companypal.co.uk.
Who else sees it
- Postmark delivers the notification email that reaches us when you submit the form.
- Bunny.net serves this site and holds standard server logs.
- Google Fonts serves the two typefaces, which means your browser makes a request to Google when the page loads.
There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixel, and no cookie that follows you anywhere. The site sets no cookies of its own, which is why there is no cookie banner.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until we’ve told you the thing you signed up to be told and you haven’t opened an email from us in two years — whichever comes first.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@companypal.co.uk and we’ll do it within a month. If you think we’ve handled your data badly you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
